Benevolent Domain is operated by Argus Allseer LLC, an Oregon limited liability company. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information We Collect

We collect very little information. Specifically:

• Votes and preferences — your domain votes and sort preference are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
• Affiliate click events — when you click a "Register" button, we record that a click occurred on that domain (a simple counter increment). No personal information is associated with this record.
• Server logs — like all web servers, ours automatically records standard access log entries including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. These logs are used for security and performance monitoring and are not shared with third parties.

Cookies

This site uses localStorage (a browser storage mechanism similar to cookies) to remember your votes, sort preference, and cookie consent. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels of our own.

When you click a "Register" link to a domain registrar, that registrar may set their own affiliate tracking cookies. These cookies are governed by the registrar's own privacy policy:

Affiliate Disclosure

Benevolent Domain participates in affiliate programs with domain registrars including Namecheap, Dynadot, and GoDaddy. When you click a "Register" link and complete a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This commission is how we fund the site.

Affiliate relationships do not influence which domains are listed or how they are scored. Our brandability scores are calculated algorithmically based on linguistic properties of the domain name.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Fonts — to serve typefaces. Google may log font requests per their Privacy Policy.
• RDAP — domain availability is verified via RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol), a public lookup service. No personal data is transmitted.

Data Retention

Server access logs are retained for up to 90 days. Aggregated click counts stored in our database are retained indefinitely as they contain no personal information. Your local browser data (votes, preferences) remains on your device until you clear your browser storage.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
